Most dating apps ask people to make an impression before they have anything meaningful to respond to. A photograph, a short bio, and an opening message carry the entire weight of a possible connection. Epilogue starts somewhere else: with a story.

Epilogue is a story-based dating and social app where people connect through creative writing. One person publishes an opening paragraph. Someone else imagines what could happen next. If the reply feels right, they continue the story together—taking turns, discovering each other's voice, and letting a connection form through something they create.

Before asking what to say to someone, Epilogue gives you something to say together.

A story is the first conversation

The experience begins in Discover, a stream of story openers written by other people. Each opener has a title, a genre, and a beginning that deliberately leaves room for another imagination. Romance, Mystery, Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Drama make it possible to find a world—and a voice—that feels interesting.

Instead of sending a familiar greeting, you reply by continuing the scene. The opener's author reviews that continuation and chooses whether to build on it. An approved reply becomes an active thread, and the two writers begin alternating turns. Creative chemistry becomes the introduction.

  1. Discover an opener that makes you curious
  2. Write the next part in your own voice
  3. Collaborate after the author approves your reply
  4. Take turns until the story feels complete
  5. Choose mutually whether to continue in private chat

Connection without forced immediacy

Writing together does not automatically open a private conversation. Either collaborator can send a chat request with a short introduction, but messaging begins only after the other person accepts. The story can remain simply a story, and a private connection happens only through mutual choice.

That boundary matters. It lets people enjoy the creative experience without treating every reply as a promise of romance. A continuation may begin a collaboration; it does not guarantee approval, a chat, or a relationship. Epilogue is designed to leave those decisions with the people involved.

Threads make collaboration feel clear

Every submitted reply and shared story lives in Threads. Waiting, active, rejected, and completed states make the status of each idea easy to understand. In an active collaboration, a turn indicator shows exactly who writes next, so the rhythm stays simple: add your section, then hand the story back.

When both writers reach the end, the opener's author can mark the work complete. A finished story closes the thread and publishes it to the Gallery, where the community can read the result, see its genre, and discover the two people who made it together.

Designed for people with something to add

A strong opener does not need to be long. It needs a clear situation, an interesting question, and enough space for another person to surprise you. Titles can be up to 60 characters and opening paragraphs up to 500, encouraging beginnings that are focused without closing down possibility.

  • Create a profile with your interests, preferences, and a short bio
  • Publish and manage your own story openers
  • Review continuations before beginning a collaboration
  • Receive updates about replies, turns, approvals, and chat requests
  • Read completed community collaborations in the Gallery
